The quote where I got the title for this blog...don't know much about it, but it stuck in my mind, and made a great deal of sense to me:

I've just given my 9th graders an assignment to write a story about either subject of this quotation (the girl or the doctor, not the cake!) and I think you should do this assignment for me too!
